Just like Satan has attacked the Bible, he has also attacked godly music that gives God proper praise. The Devil has watered down the word of God with the new versions by removing words, phrases, complete verses and corrupting important doctrines. So to think that he would not get involved with watering down godly music is naive. The Bible describes Lucifer as a Cherub that was over music in heaven. Knowing that we know that it is obvious that he is interested in corrupting music.
Ezekiel 28:13 "Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God...the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created."
Satan has crept into churches through what is called Contemporary "Christian" Music, "Christian" Rock and "Christian" Rap. Churches that search to please men instead of God (Gal. 1:10) have embraced CCM in their services. These churches are more interested in attendance numbers than properly obeying God's word and worshipping in spirit instead of the flesh. Their idea was to attract worldly people to get in church, but the result was a plague of liberalism and paganism in the churches.
Jeremiah 6:16 "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein."
The Bible is very clear that we are to stick with the old ways of doing things because they are better and proper. We are told not to conform to the world, nor love the world or the things that are in the world. If one cannot see that CCM goes directly against scripture then that person lacks spiritual discernment. Either that or they are completely illiterate.
Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
1 John 2:15 "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
Many people say that in Rock and Roll, only the words are evil, but the person that says that is misinformed. There have been scientific studies that conclude that music can be like a drug to one's brain. So many people cannot give up worldly music because they are addicted to it like a drug. They have tried and tried, but the flesh craves it. God can give us victory over that addiction though by replacing bad music with godly Hymns.
Music such as Rock and Rap emphasize the beat over the lyrics for a reason. All worldly music uses off-beat, back-beat patterns, while classical music and hymns use the down-beat notes (Dr. Roger Kamien, Music Scholar, Princeton Grad). The off-beat, back-beat patterns originate from African Voodoo and Satanic Witchcraft (Dr. William Sargent, Wichita Beacon/Jeff Godwin, Dancing with Demons/Charles White, The Life and Times of Richard Little/Hart, Drumming at the Edge of Magic).
The beat in worldly music encourages the flesh to get active, outwardly and inwardly (Lowell Hart, Satan' s Music Exposed). Studies have shown that music that emphasizes beats speeds up our sex drive, even "Rockstars" have admitted this and not just that, but have said that Rock and Roll will always be Satan's music (David Bowie). Worldly music makes us want to dance and move our bodies in ways that emphasize sexual thoughts (Daniel and Bernardette Skubik, The Neurophysiology of Rock). Why do you think people like to listen to Rock before they fight? Why do you think malls spend millions of dollars picking the right songs to get people to get in the mood to spend money? Advertisers and movies spend millions of dollars on background music because they know that it affects people regardless of the words. Music is far from neutral.
Throughout history there has been two major forms of music. One type emphasizes the 2-4 beat and makes up over 95% of worldly music, such as Rock, Rap, Dance, Pop and etc. The other type emphasizes the 1-3 beat that makes up over 95% of Hymns, spiritual songs, marches and etc.
If you think I am going overboard, the Scientist that concluded this was an Atheist. It is sad that unsaved people have better discernment than saved people sometimes. I have had friends listen to "Christian" Rock and laugh at it. Even they know that it's wrong to mix God with the world. If you were to hear "Christian" Rock playing in someone's car and just hear the beat there would be no way you could know that it is talking about God. All you could hear would be that worldly beat. It is a bad testimony.
1 Thessalonians 5:22 "Abstain from all appearance of evil."
The Bible says that Christians should be a peculiar people. This means that we should be completely different from the world. Think about it, why would someone that is unsaved want to get saved if you are just like them. What's the difference? The only difference is they're honest about loving the world and you want to rub God's face into worldly music so you can be a Christian and be comfortable at the same time. Typical Christian Americans. As Christians we are to sow the spirit instead of the flesh (Gal. 6:8), yet we want to cling to worldly music that pleases the flesh.
Titus 2:14 "Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."
Why dirty the name of Jesus Christ by dragging him into Rock and Roll? The beat of Rock and Roll stems from African music and Paganism. Rock and Roll has been used to glorify sex, drug, alcohol, immodesty and the Devil, so why use it for God? God is not pleased with people that dirty His Holy name. God has a verse for those who believe that CCM and "Christian" Rock is godly.
Isaiah 5:20 "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!"
Most of my readers are Baptists. Because of that, I will say that if one looked into CCM bands, they would see that most CCM bands have close ties with the world and are even friends with Catholic bands. The truth is, most CCM bands embrace false doctrine and false "bibles". As Christians we should not have any part with CCM. This is not about people just having "stronger convictions", this is about worldly music being directly against scripture.
James 4:4 "..know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."
In conclusion, do not make the mistake Moses made in Numbers 20:8-11 where God said to speak to the rock, but Moses hit it instead. God told him how do something and Moses wanted to make the method better and do it his own new way. The King James Bible and our Old Hymns that are laced with God's word and are doctrinally correct have brought spiritual revival in the past, so why change the method? If it's not broke then don't fix it. God's word and the Old Hymns are not what needs to be changed, it is our culture and flesh that needs to be transformed.
Ephesians 5:19 "Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;"
Colossians 3:16 "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord."
