Tattoos

Note: All Scripture quotations found in this article are from the text of the Authorized King James Version of the Bible.

The Bible plainly tells us that God is against tattoos.

Leviticus 19:28 "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

Many people try to get around this verse by saying that since it is in the Old Testament it is not for us today. Moral Old Testament laws are still for us today though. If you get rid of the moral law in verse 28, will you also get rid of the moral law in the next verse?

Leviticus 19:29 "Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness."

There are tons of moral laws in the Old Testament that should still be held today, such as bestiality and human sacrifice.

Leviticus 18:23 "Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion."

Leviticus 18:21 "And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD."

Others argue that it is only talking about when it is done for the dead, but if you read the rest of the verse it says not to print ANY marks upon you.

Some people try to say that Jesus Christ had a tattoo with the next verse. It is clear that the vesture went down to the thigh and that is where the name was written, on his vesture near the thigh. Jesus Christ never sinned against God's word.

Revelation 19:16 "And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Christians should not get tattoos because their body does not belong to them. The Bible tells us that our body belongs to God. If God wanted us to have tattoos, we would have been born with them. Our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost and should not be defiled.

1 Corinthians 6:19 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

1 Corinthians 3:16 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are."

Tattoos have a Pagan and Satanic history. Today the world is covered in tattoos. As Christians, we should not conform to the world, nor should we look anything like them.

Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God."
